As a newly licensed PI, Nicole had done work for Rexton Enterprises when they were trying to collect a settlement from another business that had hidden its assets. Nicole Graves finds herself in the crosshairs when she reluctantly agrees to babysit a witness in a high-profile rape trial.

But things don’t turn out the way Nicole expects: The Londoners fail to arrive in LA and appear to be missing. However, The Ransom differs from the previous Nicole Graves novels which were solely about Nicole and told purely from her point of view. Nicole is uncertain about involving the police and crosses paths with a detective who she feels a spark of romance might eventuate.
